WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to Iowa tomorrow to promote the Republican tax bill, Not One Penny spokesperson Eric Bennett released the following statement:
“Mike Pence should tell the truth to Iowa families who are hurting as a direct consequence of the Republican tax law that overwhelmingly benefits wealthy individuals and corporations at the expense of working Iowa families. Since the passage of the GOP tax law, nearly 3,500 Iowa workers have been laid off and workers’ wages have stagnated, while companies have pocketed record profits.”
Key facts on the impacts of the TrumpTax in Iowa:
-
This year, 3,485 workers have been notified of mass layoffs and plant closures in Iowa.
-
125,400 Iowans will lose health insurance under the TrumpTax.
-
Nearly 1 in 4 Iowans will see a tax increase thanks to the TrumpTax when this law is fully phased in.
-
Next year, 188,020 Iowans will see no tax cut.
