Washington, D.C.  — Two weeks ago, Senator Corker said his vote for the GOP tax bill could be “one of the worst votes I’ve made.” Now, Senator Marco Rubio is saying that there was no evidence that the benefits of the Republican tax bill have poured back into American workers.

While banks have made record profits, a recent analysis found that companies have used their savings from the TrumpTax to line the pockets of shareholders through dividend increases and stock buybacks. A recent Morning Consult/Politico poll also found that a majority of voters reported not seeing a paycheck bump from the GOP tax bill.

Additionally, in the recent special election in Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district, proponents of the TrumpTax spent over $10 million running ads trying to bolster political support for the law. Democrat Conor Lamb, a who ran against the TrumpTax plan, went on to win in the usually Republican district, despite being outspent by Republican groups by more than a 2-to-1 margin.

“As Senator Rubio sometimes does, he let the truth slip: admitting that the GOP tax plan was nothing more than a giveaway to corporate CEOs at the expense of working families,” said Tim Hogan, spokesperson for the Not One Penny Campaign.  “As voters take a look at their paychecks and see that they have been sold a giant lie, Republicans in Congress are considering a cut and run, even as GOP leadership touts this law as their only hope of avoiding electoral catastrophe in November.”
