Not One Penny Response to Viacom Layoffs

WASHINGTON, D.C – In response to Viacom’s announcement of support staff layoffs, despite recently receiving millions of dollars in corporate tax cuts, Not One Penny spokesperson Tim Hogan released the following statement:

“Another day, another round of layoffs from a giant corporation that, according to the Trump administration, should be flourishing due to corporate tax cuts. Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan gave away the bank to corporate tax lobbyists, so what is Viacom doing with its new piles of cash? This announcement is further proof that tax cuts for the wealthiest corporations will be used to line the pockets of shareholders and C-Suite executives, not American workers. It’s a shame that Viacom couldn’t use their windfall to protect the livelihoods of their employees. Lord knows, based on the credit the Trump administration is trying to claim for every one-time bonus, they should have been able to save these employees.”
