WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the passage of the historically unpopular Republican tax plan that benefits millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations at the expense of working families, the Not One Penny coalition launched the “Repeal the TrumpTax” campaign to hold Members of Congress accountable for their votes. We are excited to announce our partners that are supporting our efforts to engage constituents across the country:

“The tax bill will equal disaster for healthcare—for the consumers I serve as a home care worker, and for my family,” says Shana Boston, a home care provider from Richmond Va. and a member of SEIU VA 512.  “Senate Republicans say they care about all Americans, but their tax measure is just one more example that they don’t care at all about the working people in this country.”

“We’re outraged that this sham bill turns the pristine and sacred Arctic National Wildlife Refuge into an industrial oilfield to somehow justify massive tax cuts to billionaires and large corporations, tax hikes on the middle class, and major budget deficits that will likely mean cuts to crucial environmental protections,” said League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski “We will never stop fighting to prevent Big Oil from sinking its drills into the Arctic Refuge and will continue mobilizing our 2 million members to make sure people across the country know which members of Congress stood with them and who supported this shameful polluter giveaway.”

“Despite the hundreds of thousands of people who spoke out, made calls, visited offices, and shared their stories urging their representatives to stop attacking access to affordable health care, GOP leaders still snuck it into the tax bill, undermining health care for millions of people,” said Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “From increasing insurance premiums and reducing access to affordable health coverage to cutting critical funding for programs that save lives, this bill is bad policy and will take families backwards. Ultimately, women and their families will be hurt the most. The American people have made it clear that they do not support efforts to undermine their health care and will continue sending a clear message to GOP leaders: we will hold you accountable and we will repeal the Trump Tax.”

Some highlights of the “Repeal the TrumpTax” campaign include:

  • During the first week in January, Not One Penny will kick off the Repeal the TrumpTax Tour, a 100-day stretch of events across the country with Senators, Representatives, and elected officials advocating for the repeal of the most harmful provisions of the tax bill.

  • After the 100 day tour, the Repeal the TrumpTax campaign will host an event in Washington D.C. on April 15th with satellite events across the country on the anniversary of the 2017 Tax March.

  • The Repeal the TrumpTax campaign will more than double the multi-million dollar effort of Not One Penny in digital and television efforts to highlight damaging effects of the legislation and to pressure Senators and Representatives to repeal the bill.
