Kansas State House Minority Leader Jim Ward to Join ‘Repeal The TrumpTax’ Press Conference at State Capitol

Event Will Launch Nationwide Tour Demanding Congressional Republicans Repeal the TrumpTax on Middle-Class Families

Thursday, January 4, 2018

TOPEKA, KS — On Saturday, January 6, at noon, Kansas House Minority Leader Jim Ward (D-Wichita) will join Nicole Gill, Executive Director of the Tax March and Not One Penny coalition member for the launch of the nationwide ‘Repeal the TrumpTax‘ Tour to demand the repeal of the recently passed Republican tax breaks for millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations at the expense of working families.

Local leaders and Kansans affected by the TrumpTax will share personal stories about the devastating effects of Governor Sam Brownback’s ‘Kansas Experiment’ and call on congressional Republicans to repeal their recently passed nationwide tax law modeled after the Kansas law.

The Tax Policy Center found that more than half of American households – 100 million of them – will pay more in taxes, while the richest 0.1 percent will get a nearly $150,000 tax break with the TrumpTax. Millions will see a 10 percent increase in health insurance premiums and seniors will pay more from forced cuts to Medicare.

After launching in Topeka, the 100-day tour will hold events around the country, featuring senators, congressional representatives, local elected officials, and people affected by the law. The tour will next travel to Kansas City (MO), St. Louis, Las Vegas, and Reno before continuing to more than 30 cities from coast to coast.
