WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tax March announced today that it will host more than 100 nationwide events on April 14th and 15th, the weekend before Tax Day, to call on Congress to repeal the TrumpTax.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and other elected officials will headline events to mark the one-year anniversary of the Tax March, and will discuss the disastrous impact the TrumpTax will have on middle-class families.

“While Donald Trump, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence, and Republicans conspire with big corporations to reward CEOs and shareholders, the American people have declared enough is enough,” said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. “A tax bill that gives 83 percent of the tax cuts to the wealthiest one percent is not only unfair, it’s un-American, and we must hold Republicans accountable for putting people’s health care, retirement savings, and livelihoods at risk all for tax cuts for their donors.”

“Ignoring overwhelming opposition from the American people, Donald Trump and Republicans forced the TrumpTax through Congress to give massive tax breaks to millionaires and wealthy corporations at the expense of working families,”said Tax March Executive Director Nicole Gill. “We are using this year’s Tax Day to organize, take action, and speak out against a plan that raises taxes on 92 million middle-class families. The last thing working-class Americans need is a tax code that further rigs the system in favor of corporations and the richest one percent — and we expect our 100 events across the country will show Republicans that we are holding them accountable, and still demand repeal of this awful bill.”

Tax Day will also mark the end of a 100-day Repeal the TrumpTax Tour, during which events were held in more than 40 cities across 20 states with elected officials, community leaders, and grassroots activists.

The fallout from the TrumpTax will be devastating, with The Tax Policy Center finding that 92 million middle-income families across America will pay more in taxes, while the richest 0.1 percent will get a nearly $150,000 tax break. Moveover, millions of Americans will see a 10 percent increase in health insurance premiums and massive cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

Details regarding events and speakers are forthcoming, and will be posted online at taxmarch.org.
