Community Leaders to Hold Press Conference on the Impact of the TrumpTax in New Jersey

Event Continues Nationwide Tour Shining a Light on Republican Tax Hikes on Middle-Class Families

30-ft Tall Inflatable Tax March Chicken Comes to New Jersey

TOM’S RIVER, New Jersey — On Friday, March 16, at 12:00 PM EST, community leaders, tax experts, and affected families will hold a press conference on the TrumpTax’s disastrous impact on New Jersey’s working families. The event continues a nationwide tour to shed light on the devastating repercussions of Republican tax breaks for millionaires, billionaires and wealthy corporations at the expense of working families.

The event will also feature the 30-ft inflatable Tax March Chicken, which will call out Congressional Republicans for being too chicken to oppose raising taxes on middle-class families to give billions to their wealthy donors.

The fallout from the TrumpTax will be devastating, with The Tax Policy Center finding that 92 million middle-income families across America will pay more in taxes, while the richest 0.1 percent will get a nearly $150,000 tax break. Moveover, millions of Americans will see a 10 percent increase in health insurance premiums and our commitment to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will be undermined.

The TrumpTax is especially harmful for New Jerseyans. The massive giveaway for the rich will result in tax hikes for working families. The detriment to the middle-class is so apparent that even Republicans said the bill could hurt New Jersey.

After Thursday’s event, the 100-day tour will continue hosting events around the country, featuring senators, congressional representatives, local elected officials, and people affected by the law. The tour will continue with stops in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
