Washington D.C. — Today, following reports that Republicans in Congress have added new provisions to the Republican tax plan specifically designed to give massive tax breaks to Senator Bob Corker and President Donald Trump, Not One Penny partners released the following joint statement:
“The Republican tax plan is nothing more than a shameful scheme to take from working families to give to the wealthiest Americans, like Bob Corker and Donald Trump. Despite claims to the contrary, it is clear that the last-minute addition of the ‘Corker Kickback’ was slipped into this bill to personally enrich those supporting the plan in exchange for their votes, which Senator Cornyn confirmed. Before he votes on this bill, Corker should release his tax returns — not just hide behind an inadequate financial disclosure. The American people deserve to know exactly how much he stands to gain from a bill that devastates the poor and middle class — and the Senate should halt voting on the bill until they do.”
